Helping individuals remain safe, independent, and confident in the place they call home.
Meet Grace
Founder of Rooted Independence | Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L) | Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS)
Hi! I'm Grace, a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS). I created Rooted Independence because I believe everyone deserves to feel safe, comfortable, and confident in the place they call home.
Throughout my career, I've worked with individuals across a variety of settings, helping them overcome barriers to everyday activities and improve their independence. Those experiences inspired me to create a business focused on proactive home safety and accessibility, giving people practical recommendations before small challenges become bigger obstacles. Whether you're planning ahead, recovering from an injury, or simply looking to make your home or workspace safer, I'd be honored to help.
Why I'm Qualified to Help
My background combines occupational therapy with specialized training in home accessibility and aging in place. As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L), I have experience helping people safely perform everyday activities and identifying barriers that affect independence. In addition, I earned the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation, which provides specialized training in designing safer, more accessible living environments and recommending practical home modifications. Together, these qualifications allow me to provide personalized recommendations that help people remain safe, comfortable, and independent in their own homes.
My Approach
Personalized. Practical. Client-Centered.
Every home is different, and every person has unique goals and routines. That's why I don't believe in one-size-fits-all recommendations.
My assessments focus on understanding how you use your space so I can provide realistic, personalized solutions that fit your lifestyle—not someone else's.
My Philosophy
I believe the best time to improve safety and accessibility is before a fall, injury, or major life change makes those decisions more stressful. My goal is to help individuals and families plan ahead with practical, personalized recommendations that fit their homes, routines, and lifestyles—because small changes today can make a meaningful difference tomorrow.
